Reference project: Beam mounted pull out units for SAMSON

ABOUT SAMSON

SAMSON is active wherever things are in flux: Oils, gases, vapors or chemical substances - valves are the core business. SAMSON is continuously reforming process automation with new intelligent systems to make processes more flexible, safer and more reliable. SAMSON AG was founded in 1907 and currently employs over 4,000 people worldwide. Approximately 1,600 people are employed at the Frankfurt site alone.

THE ISSUE

In the area of production control and supply, SAMSON AG plans to introduce new software at its Frankfurt site in 2018 / 2019. In this context, the various processes in the production area were analyzed and potential for optimization was identified. Among other things, it was decided to set up various PVB's - "Production Supply Areas". Production logisticians use the PVB's to supply the individual production areas with necessary production parts. The goods in the PVB's are stored on special pallets measuring 1,000 x 800 mm, usually with wooden stacking frames at a height of 200 mm or 400 mm. The production logisticians should be able to pick in this area easily and without the need for any aids (forklift or ant).

As SAMSON has been using our pallet pull-out units in other areas since 2010 and 2015, pallet racks with pull-out units for the floor and beams were favored as a picking solution in the PVB area.

THE APPROACH

SAMSON approached us with detailed plans, requesting us to submit an offer according to the plans.

Since pallets with a stacking frame are used throughout as storage and transport containers, Krog GmbH suggested using a variant without a pull-out handle for the floor-mounted pull-out units , as the frame on the pallet can be used very well for pulling out itsself. In this way, damage to an alternative pull handle when loading the pull-out units can be avoided.

This suggestion was positively received and should be taken into account in our offer.

It was desired to carry out this project with a complete shelving system including shelves, pull-outs and assembly via one supplier. We therefore offered the shelves from our long-standing partner Meta and had the assembly carried out.

THE IMPLEMENTATION

After long negotiations, we were awarded the contract for this project and were thus able to support SAMSON in optimizing its production processes.

The project was implemented in September 2018.

A total of 284 storage spaces were created and 160 pull-out units were installed. Due to the local conditions in a multi-storey production and administration building, special load distribution plates were used for the pallet racks.
