Reference project: Compact units for Reifenhäuser

ABOUT REIFENHÄUSER

Reifenhäuser Blown Film is one of the leading suppliers of blown film extrusion lines worldwide. Reifenhäuser Blown Film is a member of the Reifenhäuser Group - the world's largest network for plastics extrusion technology.

The special competence of Reifenhäuser Blown Film is the development and manufacture of 3- to 12-layer blown film extrusion lines.

THE ISSUE

Assembly and production of the extrusion systems takes place at the Worms site. The parts required for assembly are currently mainly picked on pallets with wooden stacking frames and moved to the assembly areas by ant or lift truck. The required space for the pallets is very large:

Due to the constantly growing number of assembly orders, there is no longer enough space available. For this reason, Reifenhäuser Blown Film was actively looking for an optimization.

THE APPROACH

At the "Transport & Logistics" fair in Munich, our compact racks caught the attention of an employee of Reifenhäuser Blown Film who was looking for potential solutions to the problems described above.

After an intensive exchange of information, a sample of a compact pull-out rack was agreed upon and a wheeled rack was made available free of charge at short notice. The pull-out rack was tested extensively at the Troisdorf and Worms locations.

The compact racks offer the possibility to store parts necessary for the assembly on several levels. This saves a lot of space. At the same time, employees no longer have to bend down on the floor to remove assembly parts from the pallet: a great ergonomic advantage. The castors make the compact racks mobile. The articles can be placed on the shelves directly in the warehouse and then moved to the assembly area without the use of an ant or forklift.

THE IMPLEMENTATION

The tests were very successful, so that the Troisdorf and Worms sites have started using 8 and 9 compact racks with castors in a first step. Further deployments are planned.
